Предмет овог мастер рада је Булгаковљево театролошко обликовање Гогољевог романа "Мртве душе". У току анализе, рад ће се бавити уочавањем сличности и разлика између драме и романа, као и приказивањем начина на који Булгаков трансформише Гогољев роман у оригинално дјело.
